Good morning muggles

First a couple of public service announcements

@Craven_Mug_Craver in regards to your comment a couple of posts above. Everything you said is true. All you have to do is watch the number of views within the first 10 minutes after I open the forum. And like this week, watch the number of "shore" comments in the first hour. And your emotions are exactly why the Kas scale came into existance. The Kas Scale. However as our addictions grow we expand our horizons first to the MGWCC, then in quick succession, the SSS, MMM, MOAT, MEOW, Mikey G Metas, MMMM. And all of the others at Other Meta Crossword Puzzles and Other Puzzles. Pretty soon your life is consumed with puzzles - but you get better and better so the compulsion grows.

Next PSA - The way I compile the ship/shore list is on Thursday, I go through the postings from first to last. After that, I go from last to first so I know when to stop looking. One downside is that if you post that you are on the ship or need a nudge and later go back and edit that post, odds are I will never see it to count you on the shore. The best thing is to create a new posting when you get to the shore. Also posting on the forum is not a substitute for sending in your answer to the WSJ at Crosswordcontest@wsj.com.

We welcome our two newest muggles @MistyRiven and @Dnizzy. It is always great to have more muggles and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Or better yet jump into one of our zoom sessions and everyone there is more than willing to greet you and answer any questions. You may also find out that your next door neighbor is a closet muggle.

So far both movie goers and those who have not been in years (or decades but we won't admit that) have solved Mr. Gaffney's challenge. We have 3 on the ship and 195 on the shore.

Oh, it's definitely a well known movie. I remember that it made a stir as a hit at the time, what it was about, and specifically why* I didn't go see it.

*Just not my type of movie. Not anything in particular I was strongly opposed to**, per se.

**Well, I guess I am opposed to going to a movie theater and paying money to sit in a room with a sticky floor full of noisy people in order to see a movie that is not my type of movie. There is that.

Wasn’t able to spend much time on this Thursday or Friday but locked in this morning and swam to shore. Have a great weekend everyone!

Who knew that Thursday afternoons would effectively take over my life and chart the course of my weekend?

Had you asked any of use we could have told you that, believe me it gets worse as you start looking for MORE metas. Think of the WSJCC as your "gateway drug". Soon you are doing SSS, MMM, MOAT, MEOW, Pun of a Kind, Pair-o-Ducks....
Welcome to the club, and there is no 12 step program. I tried it and all that happened was that I kept looking for letters to spell a word on each step....sigh. :D
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

New to the forum! If anyone could give a little nudge I’d appreciate it! I have the main mechanism but struggling to see how it all connects to another movie

Ashore. Literally. Solved yesterday while sailing off the coast of Cuba.
Attempted to share the puzzle with two young travelers at the next table in the dining room.
Very polite, bright pre teens. However,I suddenly felt very old when I realized that they hadn’t even been born until the 21st century. 🤦‍♀️

Ashore. A bit travel-lagged and this morning's 5:30 am wake-up call for a golf scramble didn't help. No travel the next two weeks. Yay!

A glass of dry chardonnay, please.

Swimming in circles. I see what all the themers are doing but have no idea what comes from that. Would appreciate any nudges.
Always happy to provide a nudge if I’m ashore.

Ashore with a nudge from @Bobj ! I was almost there but didn’t put in the (somewhat tedious) effort of tracking down all the pieces.

I don't know how Mr. G. can help us here. Perhaps you will illuminate me on Monday.

Is there a non-mechanical solution?
