"The answer to this week’s contest crossword is a pitcher in the National Baseball Hall of Fame."

Oh, never mind. See you all next week.

Ashore! Late start, quick finish. When I saw the topic, I just knew @MikeyG would be first. Beer and a box of Crackerjacks, please.

Oh, joy, a sports meta🙄

But somehow I made it ashore anyway.
🥂
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Ashore, I think. As for @MikeyG's request, I grew up with the Pirates when they had no hitters (not no-hitters, no hitters) except maybe Ralph Kiner. But then later, Dock Ellis did it on acid. That won't get you in the HoF, but it's still something.

OK, despite my Hall of Shame level of sports ignorance, I gotta admit that was pretty cute. "The Baseball Almanac" was my friend on this one.

Got it. Considering I hate baseball I'm actually a bit impressed with myself.

I have an alternate answer I like better.

(Actually, I like baseball. More so then nearly anyone I know who isn't a sports fan.... but I do hate sports in general.)
