MEOW #194 I'm Game (Both formats)

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

That is a pretty explicit answer....

THere is more than one way to loose a cat!

With all these dogs around, the cat wasn't sure it wanted to come out of the bag until I implicitly guaranteed its safety.
But it's out now, and like many others, I'm off to see if I can make that offer explicit.

Update: cat is now out of the bag implicitly and explicitly. I can see why it was hard to choose between the versions.
Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

My wife thinks OUR dog is the most famous. At least to us...

Nice explicit--->implicit journey.

Hey! A thought:
If you solved only the implicit, or the explicit, but not the other, would it be a "Schrodinger Dog"?

Interesting question, actually I think this is Schrödinger's dog:

NUDGES:

IMPLICIT

I know people often "link" clues, but I don't do it that often - yet I did it three times at least in this puzzle, how odd

Have you ever been to summer camp, vacation bible school or just have kids? Is there a song that is quite popular and involves a lot of clapping?

19A and 21D are both Easter eggs. Perhaps 19A more universally so, but with 21D there was always something in the areas I lived that got people into the church hall more often than mass!

EXPLICIT

I know people often "link" clues, but I don't do that often - yet I did it twice in this puzzle, how odd

Is there a word that shows up in so many clues that it looks like it is a marker of some sort?

Is there a "nudge" clue that tells you exactly what that word is? How about an Easter Egg clue that mentions a game?

Have you ever been to summer camp, vacation bible school or just have kids? Is there a song that is quite popular and involves a lot of clapping?

Definitely would have needed the nudges on the implicit version, so thanks for making the explicit one. :)

Hmmm, the implication is that I need to avoid implicit answers. That seems to be spelled out

I am remiss in that I did not mention solver 39 rfj for the Explicit and 36 JakeDaSnake for the Implicit bringing the grand total to a lofty 56.

I believe tomorrows might be easier, we will see.
