Not PAGE one but dammit DAY one should count for something!

RIP Bob Newhart! That Kilchoman isn't going to drink itself so just helped myself to a generous pour and cued up the Button-Down Mind. Maybe if I have a second glass, I'll get some Moo Goo Gai Pan for dinner. If you know, you know.....
Bob was a favorite. Turns out my dad and Bob were born in the same hospital, about 11 years apart.

(edit for factual data, 11 not 8)
My dad had a collection of comedy albums. Newhart, Adams, Cosby, others. A lot of it was topical humor that doesn't hold up, but much of it does. I remember the woman on the bus was one of my favorites. So much of stand up is timing and delivery; Newhart had that in spades. Bye Bob! Fare thee well.

Pretty noisy on the beach already--I've been YELLing my drink order dOWn to the cabana boy but he can't hear me. Guess I'll just have to BELLy on up to the bar. I trIED a metanism and was not diSAPpointed--SUCcess on the first try! That will probably change next week. I'll have a mojito--just what I've been hanKERing for.

For the record, my first guess was "Asparagus," but you have to write it really small to fit it into four grid spaces.

Hi guys, first post for me after a long time just reading along. Special thanks to Barbara for helping me get signed up when I was too dumb to make it past the spam protection for registration. Anyway, made it to shore on Thursday for once (even though the post is 5 minutes into Friday here…)!

Welcome! So glad you persevered and joined us!
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

On shore. Just got to this one, as I was golfing in our Great American Irish Scramble yesterday. So... what to drink? Well they (we) didn't have Guinness at the tournament, but they (I) did have plenty of Jameson, Tullamore Dew, 31D Club, Lemon Drop Shots and more Jameson. I did get caught up on Guinnesses when we were done. So what to drink this morning? Let's go with coffee for now, cabana boy...

And yes, RIP to the Button-Down Mind, Bob Newhart. I still say the ending of the season finale of "Newhart" was the cleverest two minutes in the history of TV, bar none.

Or, am I simply wearing a tiara and sash? 🤔
Don't see how this can be a PAGEANT.

.... well, I guess I can see one way but.... no. Even then it'd be a PAGEANT PARKING LOT and not a PAGEANT.

That said there was one monkey wrench. It was made of tin and about the size of a paper clip but it was there. Did anyone else hit it as a speed-bump on the way to the answer?

On shore. Enjoyable solve. It's been much cooler now in Pennsylvania and I am looking forward to a walk without fretting about the meta.

A sprint to the beach through calm waters. A perfectly enjoyable swim. Still drinking my cup of joe. Keeping the twins so that's as strong as I will get. Cheers to a great weekend ahead.
