Here’s a garden star just starting to rise

Seeing your peonies reminded me. I was so excited a few weeks ago to see my Itoh peony poking through. After our drought and heat, despite watering, I hadn't seen it for two years.

Ashore! Just had to pull myself out of a certain rabbit hole and start looking in the right direction. Then it all made sense! My short streak continues.

Happily ashore despite (because of?!) jetlag after last week’s short trip to Cascais. Wishing you all a happy Showa Day from Tokyo!

It was a (too) long, (too) slow swim, but ashore!

Isaac had been laughing at me. Nudges hadn’t helped. It looked like I could better navigate the stars with a sextant than through this puzzle. Isaac was just about to kick me out of the bar when the clouds parted and I finally saw the stars. Much too late for a beverage now, but solved.

I have stared at this off and on all weekend. Finally I saw the light - just in the nick of time!

Clever puzzle! I was lucky to see the mechanism early as I was completing the grid in lower left! My “in” was seeing “Leto” in “Hotel” which was connecting with THEJOKER. As I had just looked up who played The Joker (JaredLeto). The other actors and roles didn’t connect on the grid the same way so I had to hunt a little.

I had the exact mechanism but came up with ROUSH which made no sense to me so I did not submit. I used STEMS as an answer because Smet is a celebrity last name. Definitely not my wheelhouse. I thought of Jessica Alba when considering GABLE as an answer but that did not work. Congrats to those who solved.
