MGWCC #829 -- "You In or Out?"

Dear Solver,

232 of you found the answer to last week's challenge. Read about it here.

Today's puzzle is Week 3 of 4 in April. No extension on submission deadline since the delay was only for an hour! Tuesday at noon ET as usual.

Good luck!

This is about where I'm at. Awaiting the beam, I hope!

Edit: I think a lot of people are getting epiphanies right around the 30-minute mark or so. Thought I'd maybe make the touchdown position but I'll take #11. (And I do have the buzzer-beater badge, so at least once I got it in the 11th hour!)

First time in a while I've been able to start on mgwcc as soon as it came out, so I thought I'd see how quickly I could do it. However, the grid is large, and i had some trouble with it. Now, I have a good start on a mechanism, but it's going to take a while. Oh well.

I see what has to be step 1. The next step is eluding me.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Fun meta! Was off work today so I finally got to do one when it came out. Had the gratifying feeling of having my during-fill ‘hunch’ actually be right in the end! First time for this newbie. On board at #26

Argh. I have two different mechanisms that are both partly working. They both look good, but I can't finish! I'll put it away for a while.

I thought I knew too, for a while, but it was either coincidence or sheer evil.

Finally got one on my own. That was fun! And I actually learned a few things. Thanks for the dopamine surge.

I spent too much time in a rabbit hole that was tangential to the correct meta path. Fun one once I saw the light.

Beam up requested shortly after Matt's last update. Pretty confident though.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)
