Purr-fect dribbling!
---
Puzzle #80 winners: @oldjudge and @Abide
Puzzle #81 winners: @BrennerTJ and I forget who "Rufus T. Firefly" is, but he's probably in some duck soup right now!
Correct entries: 48, tied with last week!
I'm on cloud nine with @BrennerTJ's graphics!
---
This was written as a Level 1/2 hybrid (one a month, that's my promise!), so let's split the difference and call it Level 1.5. This one is honor of the NBA, which plays an 82-game season, so there's your tie-in! (They really don't all have tie-ins, I promise.)
---
82. We're Supposed to Be a Team
The answer to the meta is NBA team #5.
Deadline is Saturday, February 10 at 1 pm ET.
Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

I think I now have the possession arrow. Enjoyable puzzle. Thanks, Mikey.

Fun one. Not my wheelhouse but was straightforward (grid was tough though)
For 3 by 3 I saw the nine boxes and kept looking at the to see if there was anything notable about the squares and not seeing anything notable about the squares. Asked for a nudge and was given the nudge "do you see anything notable about the squares".
And that's what it took.

I guess I should change my signature, and start promoting this meta: Hungry Little Creature. I was going to sent it to people for testing but I dropped the ball on it.

a) It's not in my wheelhouse either, haha.woozy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 1:43 pm Fun one. Not my wheelhouse but was straightforward (grid was tough though)

b) And I'm doing yours and only about halfway through your arduous grid as well! I do like challenges, though!
c) If you write a book on your thought processes on what goes through your mind on each meta, I'd read it.

Every time I see TEAM on this site, my brain unscrambles it to META, a technique rarely needed. Nice way to tie in with the puzzle #!

I wound up taking one for the team, which coincidentally will be the title of the MMM later this month.

Solved! Nice construction, Mikey.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Nothing but net!
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

Got there quickly, but not without some dribbling...
Thanks Mikey
Thanks Mikey
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Clever one, very gettable mechanism and relatively smooth grid (even with some unusual grid entries). If we’re talking hoops, vastly prefer ACC/NCAA over NBA … our Heels took down the arch enemy Blue Devils last night, and are looking HOT right now! (First love is my alma mater Virginia Cavaliers & their classy coach Tony Bennett — time to get back on top, Hoos!!)
The other Wendy.
