SSSolved with one nudge. Thanks, Peter.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Not sure whether this is already posted in Come Aboard! but while reading up on Nancy Salomon (who passed away a couple years ago in May 2021), I found an excellent mentoring post that might be helpful to Muggles interested in constructing.

@hoover that's a great link. On the left side of that page under "Sage Advice" she has a number of essays.

Thanks for the fun puzzle and clues that were right down my alley.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

The current New Yorker (12/25) has an article by Natan Last about Mangesh Ghogre, who grew up in Mumbai but somehow became an American cruciverbalist. An important step in this journey came when "He began corresponding with Nancy Salomon, a legendary constructor and also a generous mentor."

I read that article a few years ago, but reading it again, now that I'm trying to construct puzzles, it reads in a whole new light. And interesting how much of the advice is the same that Peter gives me. Lots of wisdom in there. Now, if I could just go from understanding it to actually making it work in a grid...hoover wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 7:26 pm Not sure whether this is already posted in Come Aboard! but while reading up on Nancy Salomon (who passed away a couple years ago in May 2021), I found an excellent mentoring post that might be helpful to Muggles interested in constructing.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Sixty-five SSSers went back in time to solve this one, and learned a lot about the great Nancy Salomon in the process. The original puzzle had CHADS at the Omega-across, so the only thing changed was the SE corner.
