Ashore and also not sure how the answer fits.
Awaiting confirmation before I submit but I’ve got my towel spread out and gave the cabana boy my order so put me with the shore crowd.
Update: confirmation received and answer submitted but still not sure how it fits. Oh well, at least I’m in the running for the coveted mug

Good Friday Morning muggles
As @steveb demonstrated in his post https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic ... 20#p150547 neither rain, nor sleet nor open heart surgery can keep muggles from doing the WSJ Friday meta. Well done Steve and keep recovering.
So far we have 2 on the ship and 148 on the shore.
Good luck to all with the grid and the meta.
Now ready for MGWCC Week 3.

Happy Friday! Made it to the ship, but stuck here for now.
For anyone else that always completes the puzzle in the actual paper, did yours have a lot of "staining" from the ink of the color photos opposite? I had to meticulously attempt to erase away what I could so I could see my pencil marks!

Sigh... on the boat, wondering what direction the shore is even *in*...

Still afloat, but have taken the first step toward the lifeboat, I think. Now what do I do to use what I have to get aboard and head for shore? Hmmmm

Good for you and good luck with your recovery! I am six weeks out from open heart (on Halloween of all days) and can feel your pain! Keep with the recovery plan and keep up with distractions like crosswords and metas. I made it with through without losing a three year streak on Duolingo so I feel lucky! Lisa solves the metas usually anyway, so no problem there. But we have done LOTS of crosswords the past six weeks.steveb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 9:20 pm I finished the grid today; no clue yet on the meta. But I have an excuse. I had open-heart surgery Monday for an aortic aneurysm. I just got out of the cardiac ICU today. I’m feeling much better and on the road to recovery.
I would post a picture but I can’t figure out how to do it on my phone.

On shore, but I had to verify w my meta mentor because I ALWAYS want to make the solve more difficult. As always, the construction is amazing.

Same here! Must be the answer though, huh?SJMcK wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 7:32 pmSamekurtalert wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 7:17 pm 99% sure I've got it, quick & easy one that probably took all of 3 minutes to solve after the grid was done. But I'm not sure that I particularly love how it answers the question... either it's a phrase or usage that I'm just not familiar with, or the last 1% of me that it's sure I'm right, is right. LOL.

On shore! Less than 20 minutes for the whole thing - normally we can't solve without the zoom, so we're feeling pretty proud!

Reached out to @BarbaraK, from whom the only hint necessary (thankfully) was "There is another step".
Now on the shore, looking for a nice Winter Ale. (Sure it's a beach, but it's still December!)

First solo solve in several weeks, and I'm 99% certain. I even saw some confirmation. I won't say any more.

In my case, old.
