Looks like I’ll be on that last zoom call on Sunday. Feel so close but can’t bring it home!

On the boat. Sorry I missed Matt on the Friday zoom, but I'd rather work on it myself for a little longer before I ask for help. I'm about at that point now, tho.

I’m still on the boat this evening. I really thought I was on to something earlier. But, I just can’t make it pan out. Why is it so hard to let go of bad ideas?

Nudged ashore. Sorry I wasn't able to get it on my own. I should have. But I didn't.
So I just plain couldn't get my meta based on "Up the Down Staircase" to work.
My challenge it to constructors is to make a meta where the meta, theme or metanism is "Up the Down Staircase".

On the beach!!!
Yeah, it’s great to solve at 4:30 on Thursday and not have to think/worry/stress for the rest of the weekend, but Sunday solves are much more thrilling!!!
I was thinking all weekend what a shame it would be if I couldn’t get it, because I really enjoyed Matt’s write-up of the last MMMM. It really captured the spirit of those who like the challenge of solving without outside help. It’s inspiring! — https://crosswordfiend.com/2023/08/06/m ... -august-9/

Still on the boat… been a busy wedding weekend and really not much of a chance to look at the meta! Here’s my DD @regfish7 , the new MRS, also on a boat sailing away from her wedding reception ! Cheers!

Does anyone else have troubles responding to a private message? I have tried twice to respond to someone’s nudge request but my responses are stuck in the outbox and apparently are not sent.

I think I set a record this week for the number of things that “can’t possibly be a coincidence”, but actually are.
Finally made it to shore. What a lovely meta.

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Happy to report we are on shore! Even though it is overcast here... seems a lot sunnier now.

Is there any resource online to get a nudge to solving this? All my trains of thought have been exhausted. Still new to these but desperately want to understand!

Ashore - the correct shore this week.
The last step, for me, was truly a leap from the lion's head, until you pivot, look back, and see what you should have seen all along.
I saw 51 Across "ABAD" and thought oh! BAD/GOOD - applied the mechanism and arrived at SAD MOOD - now I see the elegance I missed Mr. Gaffney. This Bouquet's For You.

The way most of us ask for nudges is to pm a solver and include what we've tried so far. Go back to page 1 of the comments and pick a person on the shore. Or you could pm me.Nationofislam wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:52 am Is there any resource online to get a nudge to solving this? All my trains of thought have been exhausted.
