We now have the noisiest little boys on the other side of the fence from my lovely garden area. There is a 6’ tall wooden fence between us — spaced vertical wood planks on both sides of the fence (with three horizontal 2x4 rails - bottom, middle, top - separating the planks). My question is, if I install/sandwich sound-reducing panels in the space between the two sides of the fence, will that help much, or would the sound coming OVER the fence make the reduction negligible? Would the sound come OVER the sound barrier and then back down to me on the other side? (I don’t know much about the physics of sound.)
