Solved and submitted at the high school track meet…
If I don't win a mug, I can always make one... ;) but it won't have the same cachet.

Ashore, with a Floradora tonight - look it up if you’re into cocktails and raspberries!

Ashore despite a case of Covid dragging me down… that will teach me to go on a cruise. Lots of fun but guess I am paying for it!! I am sure a Guinness is still appropriate and good for what ails you!!

On the shore! Going to be one of those crowded weekends.
Thank you, Bob, for posting the info on CCCC.

Ashore! Just a vitamin water for me, still dealing with the horrible covid. The beach is too crowded already, nowhere to isolate so I will head home quickly.

After what has become my usual late start (and somewhat to my surprise … 😳), I find myself … ashore!

Ashore after a mostly smooth swim. Looks like it's going to be a crowded beach by the end of the weekend.

Thanks to a particularly slow afternoon at work, an easier-than-usual grid, and a helpful final nudge to take another look at my four letters, I'm able to join the beach party on Thursday for once! Looks like I'll be starting my weekend early. ;) Cheers folks!

For once I started right after the puzzle was posted.
An hour and twenty minutes later I finally got it.
#2 Post by MMe » Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:05 pm, would you please tell me how in the world you downloaded, solved the grid and got the answer in 5 minutes?
Holy smokes, I'll never, ever, ever be able to type in the grid answers, let alone solve the meta that fast!
You and all of the page one solvers are amazing!
I agree with you, something is fishy with the page one entries! After I knew all the grid answers one week, I went back and timed myself filling in the grid a second time to see how fast I could do it. Still took almost 20 minutes! There’s definitely more to the story for “ashore” in 5 minutes. Please enlighten us!
Hey Sleepy, I was only stating my thoughts comparing my solving to the wiz kids on page one. I'm not implying that anything "fishy" is going on.
I remember when Al Sisti posted a screenshot of his completed puzzle time way back to assuage the doubters.
I'm just in it for the (cue Yosemite Sam) mug.

I should take to traveling exclusively on Thursdays, as the crossword contest is great for that dead time while you are at the gate...

So, signing in from BWI, we only wish our real flight was to a beach where we would find you all rejoicing! But at least we are on the imaginary beach. Love you, Isaac! Maybe next week...

Ashore! Swam parallel to the beach for a few minutes before I officially arrived, but I'm here now and ready for my frosty beverage. 😁
