Late start (that is just how many of my Thursdays work), but quick swim to shore. Not stuck with Isaac for very long this week. He didn’t even have time to finish making my drink.

Was stuck in a muddle, but now I'm ashore.
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

For once I started right after the puzzle was posted.
An hour and twenty minutes later I finally got it.
#2 Post by MMe » Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:05 pm, would you please tell me how in the world you downloaded, solved the grid and got the answer in 5 minutes?
Holy smokes, I'll never, ever, ever be able to type in the grid answers, let alone solve the meta that fast!
You and all of the page one solvers are amazing!
I agree with you, something is fishy with the page one entries! After I knew all the grid answers one week, I went back and timed myself filling in the grid a second time to see how fast I could do it. Still took almost 20 minutes! There’s definitely more to the story for “ashore” in 5 minutes. Please enlighten us!

On shore. I hope it is the right one.

Got a late start. Still time to rest before the NFL Draft.

Answer is I didn't download or solve the grid, or it would have been a good deal longer. I used the online (web) app, having been refreshing the crosswords page for a minute. Then I solved only ... let's for now just say certain entries that looked like they'd be important to the meta, which didn't take me many crossing entries to solve once I saw what was going on. So I had a largely empty grid. Then I guessed at the mechanism and my first guess was correct (very unlike this week's MGWCC DNF!).

That said, it was 4 minutes

On the beach!
Stunning meta construction by Mike. There seems to be a Nippon undercurrent running through it. Hello, Mr G.
I'm amazed at how fast so many people solved it. It took me half an hour just to fill the grid!
Glad I A-61 some veggies yesterday.

Good luck to all for a successful solve. If you see that I'm ashore - rare occasion of late - message me if you'd like a nudge. Be sure to include your progress so I can know better how to assist.
