Well, that was fun. I submitted so I'll claim shore. Of course I did that last week with HO and find that I was HOsed. I missed the step 2 of taking the first letters of the HO "additives" which spelled LISTS (Santa makes a A LIST that he dutifully checks twice to determine the extent of naughtiness or niceness and says HO HO HO all the while darn it.)

Anyway I believe I can confidently claim a solve here. Now I'll wait for the embarrassment that is sure to accompany the MGWCC which, though he promises to be gentler with, will no doubt challenge all my abilities from A to Z.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Struggled with this one longer than I should have. But, happy to say I'm finally ashore. A bottle of your finest champagne, Cabana Boy!

Good Friday morning muggles. A lot of traffic getting muggles to shore with more to come. We have 135 on the shore and 3 on the ship.

And for @DrTom I have one question - what am I supposed to do with "well" in your comment #142 (note the modification by the good doctor)

Now a public service announcement for all my muggle friends in the south especially @DrTom and @Meg and her cabana boy where it has been abnormally cold - think of the poor wild animals outside your door looking for a place to warm up.

I am also going to call myself on shore although I am crying foul on two credible answers.

I am also crying foul on one of my invited guests for tomorrow night. He said he is bringing his cocktail smoker over. My Talisker, (which I will enjoy as soon as it is socially acceptable here...) is smokey enough sir. If you try to light one of my prized single malts on fire there will be words. Perhaps I'll have to drop by store and get some Cutty Sark for my pyro guest to experiment with.

Haha. I worked on this for a while, before I solved by doing what I should have done first! Fun, as usual.

What seemed to be an absolute softball of a meta mechanism may have been a mirage.. hopefully I just made a typo filling in the grid and I'll be ashore by Zoom-o'-clock. :?

...upon rereading the puzzle instructions, the mirage has solidified into the actual beach. :D. It's a little early for a celebratory drink, so I'll enjoy some winter warmers later.

Not a bad way to close out the year.. cheers, everyone!

On shore, and embarrassed to say that I needed a push to get there. Tripped up by my own preconceived notion, again. On a brighter note, the orchid now has 3 blooms!

Finished the grid over lunch. I am seeing 2 answers. One is better, the other certainly plausible using my mechanism.

Edit: “my mechanism” was rubbish and the right answer is a 🔒.

Hmmmmm, I just checked again and I only see one answer! Wondering what shore you’re on? Guess you’ll tell us on Monday!
