"Don't Overthink It!"

#1

Post by Abide »

Good morning Muggles! The MMM team has a special treat for you this week. While normally what happens in the Tuesday night Zoom stays in the Tuesday night Zoom, there are exceptions. Less than a month ago, a conversation thread morphed into the idea "You should do a meta on that". So we did.

Everyone on the call was assigned meta duties. The crowd-source team can't fit in the copyright area, so I list them here:
Cat herder: Abide
Fill: Will P. / AnswerPfinder
Triumvirate of Editors: Mark Woychick, Bird Lives, DrTom
Clue Crew: BrennerTJ, hcbirker, AJK, Ship4U, Guffman, BarbaraK, Alvibu67, ReB, Joe Ross, KayW, Wendy Walker

Wednesday nudges as usual. PM me the answer or submit on Crosshare. Random winner will receive a random item from Wendy Walker's robe pocket: Allen wrench, raccoon poison, clock winding key, pebble, flower labels, thumb drive, Badger Balm, carabiner, granola bar. Who knows?!

The meta answer is a person.

Quite a bit of hype for this one - so I'm on it early!
If I’ve solved and you need a nudge, you can PM me. Happy to pay it forward. ;)

Eager to hop on it early as well… Grid filled, but no toehold yet via underthinking this thing. The rule-follower in me may be forced to 45A 😬

Cute, cute, cute. Off couch.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

The devious zealots of Zoom have ganged up on us! And provided great fun. I have left the couch.

"By Muggle Crowdsource," haha. I love it. Let's see if I'll love it if the meta alludes me! Thanks to all of you for doing such a collaborative tour de force!

My brain is so overthinking it's underthinking and I don't get...

Just ran off the puzzle for pen solution.
Regardless of the personal outcome, many thanks in advance to those who took the time to fashion this week’s puzzle.
And if Wendy could post the secret to keeping flannel lint out of her robe pockets, I would be eternally grateful!

That was a fun puzzle. To everyone involved, thank you!

I figured out what to do rather quickly, unlike the last 2 WSJCCs.

I angered the mods with a sentence that was more specific than what SJMcK said. Hmm.

How does one get on the leaderboard? I'm having a far harder time figuring that out than I did solving the meta.

Off the couch. Fun puzzle. Well done to all involved!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

No progress on the meta, but I think I found a typo in one of the clues (corrected).
