I chased a rabbit well out to sea, but Isaac called me back for happy hour. Finally ashore.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Grid done on Thursday but didn't see anything. Just stared and stared and couldn't even come up with a rabbit hole to explore. Came back to it off and on. Still not even a hint of an idea. Rolled the title around my tiny little brain, stared at the grid, went through the clues... over and over. Nothing.

I finally noticed something that gave me letters. Then followed that pattern and Aha! So, what is this - easy and hard? Easy if you catch the right thing, but just as easy to miss.

Happily ashore. Let's see if I have any more of that Dubliner with honeycomb liqueur. If not, I'm sure I have something from one Celtic branch or the other.

Also because I'm stuck on MGWCC too. Alas, it's been a month of relative thick-headedness...
Woke this morning, looked at my various rabbit holes (i.e. iPad highlighting) and realized one went a little deeper than I had originally noticed. Followed it to the end and now I am...

On Shore!

Plus I get bragging rights with the kids for solving first. (While they probably don't really care, I'm going to pretend they do.)

Hoping it's a 50D that the thick-headedness is over.

I absolutely cannot believe how much time I wasted trying to solve this puzzle.

But I did.

I don't know whether I'm pleased or disgusted.

On shore.

Acrostic fantasy:

Oh, there, the six letters! I head for the beach.
Please pour me two fingers, and keep within reach
A bottle to freshen the glass when it's low--
Quite often I drink it too quickly, you know.
Unused to dry sand, I dig in with my feet
Elated to make an escape from the fleet.
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

Thanks to a nudge from DrTom, I finally made it to shore yesterday.

After a good night's sleep, I'll have a cranberry mimosa, please.

Ashore with a hint to relook at something I had been staring at all weekend. I agree with the S A D description of the meta.

Totally lost at sea, without even a rabbit hole to search. Little hope of making it to shore this week. Maybe next time..

We visited several years ago whilst on a trip to East Aurora to see The Roycroft establishment (we are avid Arts & Crafts fans). The State Park was originally the property of William Prior Letchworth who, in 1859, called it "The Glen Iris" and hired a noted landscape architect to develop it. He bequeathed the estate to New York in 1906.

My lady fair hails from East Aurora, where her dad was an engineer at Fisher-Price toys... cool little town.

Each week I convince myself the time is never wasted. All of the techniques that were attempted and failed remain in your brain for future use.

Holy Toledo - I think I just solved it!

Well, to put it another way - I'll be submitting an answer that seems good to me and declaring myself no longer on the ship!

The next round is on me!

Woo hoo! I am on shore. Revisited one of my rabbit holes and dug a little deeper and voila! Solved while sipping my home-made mocha so I'll have another with a little Bailey's.
