Good Sunday morning muggles
Well, the power play has not gotten any easier. Even with nudges, we only have 53 on the shore and there is a crowd of 39 on the ship. Isaac has opened a second bar on the Lido deck. And has the waiters going into the bilges with water for those stuck there.
New to the ship since yesterday are
joe
Barney
Susan G
ZooAnimalsOnWheels
meowmiao71
Collegetowngirl
Scott M
Miki
littlepigeon
JRS51
Bird Lives
TeaJenny
femullen
kawaja
Ben B and son
SusieG
Beth A
Lee-Ann
CallMeShane
ImOnToo
michaelm
James D
KscX
And making their way to shore are
D B Miller
Commodore
Tmart
CPJohnson
Don't forget the last call zoom call at 8 pm tonight.
Odds should be good for those entering (which will not include heavy nudgees/saved by the coast guard like moi).

I see A shore. So, I’m going to head toward it. Bringing a volleyball with me just in case I’m the only one there.

Wouldn't mind small nudge in the right direction from a friendly muggle! I've been on a roll with the metas, but I've got no idea where to start on this one.

I heard that there is a website that posts how many correct answers were submitted for the puzzle contest. Could someone please post a link to that website. Thanks in advance!

I am trying to solve this on my phone. I finally managed to fill the grid; no easy task that was for me. But seeing how few have solved this one, I doubt I will have much luck being able to see my way to a solution.

This is the place. Mike Miller of WSJ posts the info here every week. You can find all of his posts here:houmantamaddon wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 1:24 pm I heard that there is a website that posts how many correct answers were submitted for the puzzle contest. If you just want all the info in one sheet, you can check out the micro mug calculator:

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

"1) send a private message (PM) to someone (or several) on shore (solved) and tell them what you have done and where you are stuck. They will get back to you with nudges and 2) go to the last call zoom call tonight at 8 pm. There will be others in the same boat and a couple who have solved. Click on the MuggleZoom Room tab at the top of this page."

We are always happy to get to know other muggles and help in any way! PM's are always welcome. The next best thing to winning a mug is helping a fellow muggle win a mug!

All these supposed rabbit holes... I can't even see a hint of the barest trace of the smallest thing to even begin looking at! I'm halfway convinced this one has no solution haha

In addition to tonight's Issac's Last Call Zoom solving session, I will hold a Zoom solving session at 4 PM ET in the same Muggle Zoom Room (Link is below right of Isaac's photo at top of page for both sessions). The 4 PM ET session will make use of Zoom's whiteboard feature to track the group's solving as it progresses.

I am close to throwing in the towel this week, been staring at it off and on all weekend. Grid was quick, but I am just not seeing it this week. And I bought a bottle of cognac this week in anticipation of having a celebratory nip, but I guess I'll have to settle for Isaac serving me a beer for now.

Officially declaring myself still On the Ship!
It's fine --
I've had some excellent food this week at Vee Vee's, but still, that brain food didn't seem assist in the solving department.
This round goes to the bunny --

Ashore through the Zoom whiteboard wizardry of @Joe Ross. No way I'd have made it to shore on my own on this one so no mug for this guy. I'll remember the mechanism for next time, though. Hopefully.
Thanks for the help and great to see the friendly people!

Well I have left the ship, but only because someone pointed out to me what I should have seen and I went the rest of the way. So, I will sit on my life raft and not row the last few feet to shore because, frankly, I do not deserve it.
I should have seen it because this was so simple it was difficult and classically Shenk. However, isn't that always the case? I will take my usual position of sitting and marveling at the construction. Mine are never this sophisticated darn it!

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Muggles
We had a great demonstration with Joe Ross on zoom whiteboards and we learned a lot before or after
First thing - many of us could not see what Joe was talking about. We found that you need to be in Zoom version 5.11.4 (at least for PC's. I was in 5.10.1. To upgrade, I googled "zoom latest version" and it allowed me to do the upgrade and everything Joe was seeing made sense. In the lower right was the magnifying glass and on the left was the tool bar. To find out what version you have look at the screen that comes up that says "Join a meeting" in blue letters. At the bottom is the zoom version. It is not critical that you know what your version is if you go the google path described above.
Next thing - if you export the whiteboard there are two items to know. The file PDF or PNG exports to documents/zoom on a PC. If you are quick after you hit "export" there is a tab that gets you where it gets exported to but it disappears quickly. The second thing is that you only export what you see on your screen at the time of exporting. Zoom has the capability to expand the whiteboard a lot by scrolling with the mouse wheel (not sure how this works with a Mac without a mouse wheel).
If you want to learn about zoom whiteboard, feel free to upgrade and experiment.

Submitted but I’m on the wrong beach.
I’ll be up at 12:01 to see the real answer. Count me waterlogged on the wrong shore

I'm joining the Bermuda Triangle Sail of Doom and Cocktail Hour...grid was finished uncharacteristically early on Thursday, but then...nada. Bupkiss. Niente. Zero. Neck-deep in rabbits, and not a shore in sight.
I miss the old days, before Muggledom cracked down on hints in the comment thread. [Dodges rotten fruit and eggs...]
To date--going in 4-5 years now?!--I have yet to ask for a nudge...but THIS one has me flustered. (It's those "it's so simple, I should have seen it" comments--THE WORST. LOL!)

Just got home from a trip, did the grid, but I'm off to visit Isaac while I ponder this one.
