1. Puzzle #29 recap

Puzzle #28 answer: SATURDAY IN THE PARK

Correct entries: 38

Image

Could there be a better jam for the patriotic weekend? The first words of each multiword across entry of 8 or more letters spells out "I think it was the Fourth of July," a lyric in the first verse of Chicago's 1972 bop "Saturday in the Park."

Far be it from me, the millennial, to use the phrase, but this was certainly a time when music was music. I'm sure quality music exists today, but it seems like you have to search a lot more for it!

---

2. My mom ("Hi, Marianne!") was the test solver on this one, and I tried to make the clues and meta as easy as possible. To quote my mother, "Oh, there was a theme?" This, on both counts, should be as much of a Level 1 as I can offer.

29. Thirst Case Scenario

The answer to the meta is a drink.

Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

:crossed_swords: :rabbit: :tropical_drink: These metas are making me thirsty. Fun one!

p.s. I'm now humming those twelve :notes: in 14-across, too. But until today I'd never counted them.

Solved! Thanks, Mikey.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Started off on a tangent which was close but going nowhere, but then took another look and smiled when I saw the mechanism/answer. Enjoyable time.

I don't know if we need a nudge Wednesday, but if we do, just look at the five longest across entries and then see if you can find a certain recurring duo before you count on getting the solution.

As always, thanks for your support and thanks for solving! Hoping your thirst for puzzles is being quenched this week!

I know I am a week late but I solo solved without looking at nudges. I could have skipped it but I did not want to miss out on any of the entertaining clues.

Late to the game here — we’ve been busy! — but I got it.

Fun!

Thanks, Mikey!
