The answer to the metapuzzle is a something you might say after being abandoned (as you’ve been by the vowels in some of this puzzle’s clues.)

Folks -

I published this without having adequately researched one aspect, and that may lead to confusion for some. The clue for 61-across has been amended slightly. New version of the puzzle is now available for download.

Sorry about that ...

Heading down my 42nd rabbit hole. Partway there, I think.
OK!! Finally! Correct answer confirmed. What a relief cuz there’s baseball tonight AND the Zoom!

Cool puzzle!

Though I'll admit, I needed two nudges from another solver to get it.

Just when I begin to think I'm getting good at these things, I'm brought down to earth by a meta maker's deviousness.

Grrr!!!

Taking the DNF on this.

Edit: and thanks to Meg for hints that surgically dislodged my key false assumption about the mechanism.

Same. Life is really getting in the way of my meta game.

Oh good, now I don't feel so bad :-) I still want glance at it a few more times, see if I can get any new ideas to fall out, but I have to stop obsessing! Sometimes I just don't see it.

As previously noted, I needed a couple of nudges to solve this meta. But looking at it again now, I'm thinking that I might have gotten it all by my lonesome if I had just ... well, I'll stop there, for obvious reasons.

That is: Either you see what you need to, to get rolling on this solve ... or you don't. I didn't.

Still, it is, I think, a very do-able puzzle. Though I'd probably rate it a Week 4 level in difficulty. Or maybe Week 3.5? What do you think, other solvers? Especially you solo solvers.

Well after another look I feel like I have to be starting down the right path. Not going to stress about making it all the way, though.

Seems to be a repeated mantra - two key nudges and I finally have an answer to submit.

Week 3.5 or 4? I should probably save myself time and give up now. Still, my curiosity is piqued. Would someone be willing to PM me a nudge please?

This was a tough puzzle, and I needed a pretty firm nudge to get started, but I'd rate it as my favorite meta of the week. I loved how the different pieces all tied together for the big aha.

Wow, this was really pretty cool. I was trying alternate answers (and had a couple of the right possibilities) but didn't get the ghost connection at all. Ah well, PGW wins again :-)
