Got it and loved it!

I figured it out.
Much googling required, but with MMMM that's often the case for me.

Got it with a little assistance from an early solver.

I thought that there was just a little too much Googling required, I prefer when you can get the meta straight from the puzzle and "general" knowledge.

(But that's my opinion; I don't like to rely on Google for puzzle solutions.)

Thanks to my validator (at a critical spot) & sounding board.

After doing the grid, I saw that I would probably need to Google some stuff, but I'm not interested in doing research for something that is supposed to be a fun diversion. Based on the comments here, I'm going to take a DNF on this one.

Here is a fun little bridge between 2 of the theme entries... former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap and his band doing a mashup of the old standard "Wabash Cannonball" and the Breeders' big hit "Cannonball".... much better version here than in the link I included with my submission...

The solution page says that there are no more Red Herring clues coming.

That means that with the July puzzle I'll know for sure if the one obvious thing I've noticed in every puzzle is related to the Mega or Red Herring.
I haven't spent that much time on these, but I would like to at least get the Mega. Last year I came up with "The Final Countdown" by looking at the numbers counting down, which wasn't the correct path.
