#654 - "It Was Forty Years Ago This Week"

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

Beam me up. Maybe a confidence builder for me? I have still not finished WSJ, Muller Monthly Music Meta, or MEOW #2 in spite of reading that they were all easy! Back to work.

The puzzle was easy but I loved it. I canโ€™t get the song out of my mind, but thatโ€™s not a bad thing in this case.

Beam me up. I'm glad Matt included the extra hint as that was a neat feature I might have missed.

On the beach, done for the weekend with meta puzzles.

What to do, what to do, what to do?

NOT cleaning out the garage.

For those who are too young to remember 1980, I was a senior in high school when the referenced event happened.

Beam me up! ....and..... (Jumping up & down with hand raised) Ooh, ooh, ooh, I have a coincidence to mention, but it might be a spoiler in the unlikely event that anyone reading this might not have solved it. Will elaborate after the deadline.

I completely missed that as well. Gotta remember to finish the grid before submitting so as not to miss the elegance!

Yeah I submitted before finishing the grid, but felt ... Incomplete. So I finished it and got a giggle from the extra feature

That was easy even for this gen-Xer. Liked it though. I think the themers gave too much away for a week 2 though.
