Looks like maybe this and Week 3's will be reversals in difficulty, let's see!
Less cross words, more crosswords.

OK, how uncanny is the answer to 14D?! As I shared with the Zoom group the other night, that is the VERY word that a random person standing next to us in line suggested should be the answer to "CIRCLE Dances" last week! And she was so sure she was right (even though she knew nothing about metas other than overhearing our conversation) that she promptly changed the subject to her pet ferret ...
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Yeah, I thought of you as I filled that one in. Did Matt hear that story? Really just coincidence?

I can't decide who could have told MG: Peter Abide is my best guess, but Bob Cruise Director is always a possibility!
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

In at #27. Thanks to a fellow muggle for confirmation!
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Having wasted an afternoon before learning that the first step is in fact the answer I think we are owed an apology! My least favorite meta ever!

I don’t think Matt owes me an apology, except maybe if the center entry is F***SHARKICICLES.

(That would actually be kinda awesome now that I think about it)

Rumor has it that's exactly what he was going to do last week, but couldn't figure out what to put in the circle

OK, I'm going to take the plunge for a solo solve. If nothing else, I'll get the "same wrong answer submitted by someone else" badge.
Edit: Beamed up!

Unbelievably (to me, anyway), no one has submitted a wrong answer yet. And still, I have nothing.
