#692 - "Bottom Drawers"

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

Submitted and awaiting confirmation. It’s the week ones that often make me the most nervous about submitting, y’know?

Update: yep that was it.

Way to go, Adam!

So did you actually complete the 17x17 grid in 6 minutes? Or did you figure out what you needed to solve the meta and do just that part first? Very impressive either way.

Beam me up. I think that the last time I bought a box of cereal for myself was about the same time I bought a box of the answer.

Submitted but not beamed up. I think it’s 100%, though. Such a clever man. The answer was not my pre-puzzle guess, so I’m glad I saw it through to the end.

Although I’m more of a Crispix fan, I enjoyed the Froot_____ clue. And I would gobble up Reese’s Puffs if chocolate and peanut butter didn’t trigger migraines for me.

Ooh, that's exciting! Where do I see achievement badges?
Click on your name on the leaderboard.
Well, that's cool - and some very good company with that badge! Looks like I only have 2 badges still to go.
I have four to go - first correct answer, both Halloween and last five minutes. Might get the Halloween this year. Not sure if the week 5 Halloween has to be a Friday, October 31 puzzle or just solve a week five puzzle on Halloween. I'm nervous about a last minute submission. I may wait on that until I have to restart my streak and don't have a long streak at risk.

I just noticed that - congratulations, Adam!

Yes, i had the grid fully solved before i addressed the meta. I'm not such a daredevil to do it the other way! Not exactly sure of the time on the puzzle, probably 4-5 minutes.

Yeeps. I'm now embarrassed to admit I've finally BEAMED UP...

Seriously, great work!

Cereals: Stay mostly sugarless, lately, in the raisin bran/granola/wheat Chex (by far, the best Chex)/Crispix(!) vein, but will sneak in a box or two of Lucky Charms in a given year.

Late to beam up because I'm at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival in southern New Jersey. Wonderful music, perfect weather, a great laid-back vibe with both old-school country-music folk and Grateful Dead hippies, and this year there's a Caribbean-food vendor -- so tasty and just the right amount of heat!
Oh, and my breakfast of choice: Stay Steady low-carb, high-protein cereal with blueberries.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

I hate when real life interferes with my metas. I wasn't able to get to it until this morning. If I had done it yesterday, I may have made it to the first page and much higher on the leaderboard. But to be honest, I'm just happy my streak is still going. 😁

Done but almost went another way and at the last minute decided to take another look. Phew. The longer my streak goes on the more stressful it gets.
