Moved off of Page 1 per the @Wendy Walker Rule:
camandsampowercouple wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 4:06 pm Is anyone else having trouble viewing the puzzle online? I am getting a paywall asking me to subscribe or login to view the full "article".

Edit:

It's working! I was so worried

WSJ is having a promotion today. Non-subscribers can access the site, but they do have to create an account. Maybe the puzzle got caught up in that? If you have any interest in the paper, it's a good chance to check it out anyway.

On shore, I think. There's an inconsistency that is nagging at me. I'm going to submit what I've got, so feel free to DM if you agree, or if you think I'm off base.

EDIT: The elegance I was missing was pointed out to me (thanks LesY). All is right with the world.

On the beach. The cabana boy is wondering what took me so long. Very clever and not immediately evident imo. Thanks, Jay.

Solved the meta relatively quick this week. Smiled to see 1 Across in the grid. First time caller, long time listener.

The @Wendy Walker Rule: The valuable real estate on Page 1 shall be reserved for "on shore!" announcements, in order to allow the maximum number of triumphant solvers to share the happy news that they have made it onto Page 1. The ONLY exception shall be the Cruise Director's announcement of the week's puzzle. Violate it on peril of my wrath and shunning from other Muggles.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

On shore! Took me a while to get part of it, I knew what it must be but I didn't want to submit until I understood it!

Cant help but notice what is painfully obvious. That doesn't seem to get me anywhere! Hopefully at some point this weekend it will click. Staring at it for over an hour has brought me nothing yet...

Well, since this is page two....
Unlike others, found the grid easy and flew through it without a google.
Stumbled into a rabbit hole that I probably won't be able to leave. It almost works, can't be a coincidence, I can see the answer and it makes sense, but it doesn't work. So hard to let go of an idea.

Got it! There was a wrinkle that was driving me mad, but I finally ironed it out, and now I can get slink back to work after taking a long meta break!

Solved. Tidy yet intriguing!

I’ll be interested to hear about the inconsistency some are mentioning. I don’t see it, but maybe I’m missing something. Seems tight in multiple ways.
