Jawn Marsha
Jawn Marsha
Jawn? uh Marsha
JAWN! MARSHA
etc.
Marsha Marsha MARSHA!
Jawn Jawn JOHN!!!

We did not have to memorize this in high school but I did anyway because I loved it. Expressing ourselves beautifully is a lost art. When I think of how we express ourselves today, especially the youth like, um, ya know ... and that's gold compared to ty, ttyl. Oh well, gtg. Will be afk for a while.
Must confess, I know the "What a piece of work is man" soliloquy by heart only because it was "sampled" in a song from the musical "Hair."

My older sister listened to the soundtrack album all the time. Sometimes she'd forget to lift the needle and play the really dirty songs (well, what passed for dirty back then)!

And then there is NE PA (Scranton - home of the Office) where the English language is used sparingly.
Ah, I used to have to spend 3 days a week in Scranton. Flew in from the 'burgH and always thought of Harry Chapin's "30,000 Pounds of Bananas" every time I passed the highway sign for Moosic. Loved how the building across from the Erie-Lackawanna Station/Hotel had a mural of a map of the town on it. I always knew there was an escape route at hand.
DrTom wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 5:43 pm Finally, to complete my PA vagabondness, I lived in Philly but "jawn" escapes me? Is that some implication of talking (jawing)?
"Jawn" can mean almost anything. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jawn
Another Philadelphia-born Muggle checking in. Must admit to never hearing the word "Jawn" until this exchange. Learn something every week from this group!!
Phila-born as well, here's an exchange between two workers at lunch hour:

'Jeet?
No, d'jew?

Wow. That did work! Nice. Can you still use the bracket codes if you want the actual URL, which could be really long, to be hidden?

I guess you can!

Late posting, but ashore this week. My wife and I have started doing these metapuzzles together. It's been fun leveraging her wisdom (helpful this week) and sharing more about how the meta puzzles work and what to look for.

Ashore! long time since i felt the sand twixt the toes. as usual, title makes sense in hindsight once the solution is in hand... took several aha! moments to get there. i think i am batting only 20% for the last 12 months. sigh.

Don’t feel too bad my first 12 months I batted .000 and my second 12 months I only got to about .500. But I look at that as huge improvement!

After being stuck on the breakers for a day, we finally made it ashore.

Ashore. Started late today when a friend from Florida called to ask how I was doing on the Shakespearean meta and I had to confess that I had been doing spring-cleaning yard chores all day while the sunny weather and warm temps in New England prevailed. I hadn't even downloaded the puzzle. Just finished a few minutes ago and now am virtually basking on the warm sands of a virtual tropical island even though as I look out the window, the sun has set and my thermometer is reading a (LOCAL) balmy 55 F. I'll leave the MGWCC til tomorrow.

Finally ashore after a few days of stuffing my head into rabbit holes that went nowhere and were entirely too complicated to be useful. I took another glance at the grid before giving up and it clicked!

Since I'm hoping to have tacos soon, make mine a tequila blanco, neat...

Cheers!

Or are going birding! My husband remarks that this time of year (spring migration) is the only time I am willingly getting up before 6am.

Ashore. Fun grid and meta. Shocked at how little of the soliloquy I remembered. Better on “O, what a rogue and peasant slave am I.”

On Shore on Thursday, but just now logging in. Enjoying another perfect-weather weekend in Houston before the dreaded humidity settles in.

Finished the grid Saturday but needing a subtle nudge; I am happy to PM with what I have in mind if that helps. The past 2 weeks have proven that I am very adept at thinking logically to the wrong conclusion. Thanks in advance!
