Solved the grid easily enough but I am clueless to what the meta mechanic is.

Solved and submitted. This was one of those that flipped straight from bafflement to enlightenment.

On shore. Completed the grid. Stared for a while. Walked away for a few minutes. Came back and the answer jumped out at me.

Nice week 1, maybe 1.5.

Ashore. Initially thought -- no way I'm getting this. But then the mechanism jumped out at me and there it was. I'll have a gin & tonic to celebrate.

Ashore.
Nice aha moment during my drive home - I stopped to check on the way and indeed the answer was there. I enjoyed this one.
Chag sameach to all who are celebrating!

And thanks to Joe, I'm on the beach. Being able to highlight, unhighlight, rehighlight, etc ad nauseum on the spreadsheet is sometimes a huge help.

That grid took me an hour! Very tough. Meta not as long. Ashore!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Made this one a bit more complicated than it needed to be, but ashore without going too far down the wrong 20-DOWN (are those real things?). I'll have a few 64-ACROSS (but make sure to add the accent!)

Edit: Also, thanks Brian for everything you do for the site. Please take my money.

Success, a new streak starting this week! Like those who posted earlier, initially had no clue and felt the dread of missing two in a row. Then I found the path to shore.

Haha! Very nice, Mike. I was afraid for an hour or so that my brain was too scrambled from doing the first three (out of nine, 7A!) variety puzzles in the amazing Patrick Berry suite.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

After visiting various pleasant rabbit holes, I tried something that I was sure wouldn't work, but amazingly it worked right away. It turned out that I had the right idea, I was just applying it in the wrong place. It's nice to be on shore, and it's nice to have a meta with some bite.

On shore. Swallowed a lot of water. Should have had a drink and waited for the launch.

Made it to shore. I expect a smaller crowd on the beach than we've had for a while.

Ashore. Sadly (or happily?) I did not invent any new metas this week. Vodka lemonade here.

And it bears re-repeating thank you to Brian for all you do for the site. Please donate everyone!
