On shore. Boy did I make that harder than I needed to. Great puzzle by Mike!

I had to pop out to play a streaming version of the trivia I usually do every Thursday. But that's no excuse. I was trying to make something work with this meta, and it wasn't/isn't, so I've got to go shake it off and start over.

Ah, there it is. Happy to be on shore. Stay safe and distant, everyone. It is really terrific to have virtual communities like this one in such crazy circumstances.

Finished the puzzle again easily enough but as per usual - no clue on the meta.

After staring at the completed grid for 20 minutes the key hit me. Ashore and enjoying the beach with a lovely Disaronno.

Whew!

I was starting to worry that Bob had jinxed me. Since he said he was bolding my name to be sure he didn’t miss me in the roll call, maybe I’d never see the shore again.

But I’m here - joining the party in the sure-tried-to-overcomplicate-that-one tent.

I give up - two hours on the meta - is way too much of a waste of my life even in quarantine.

On shore (before Al S., for the first time ever).

Heading to a real tiki bar -- Tropics at the Hilton Hawaiian. Have to say farewell for a while to my friendly bartenders (sorry Isaac, I've been cheating on you -- actually a lot). Hawaii is closing all restaurants and bars except for take-out starting tomorrow. First world problem for sure, but I feel for the bartenders and servers here. Going to be a loooooonng time before their business returns to normal.

I have stocked up on the important items. Bombay Sapphire, olives, Savignon Blanc and toilet paper.

Ashore! I was certain I was headed down a crazy rabbit hole, but then the rabbit popped out! (It's late, forgive the multiple metaphors.)

On shore, 100%.

Grid was easy, spent a while staring at the paper. Wife asked me a few questions about some of the answers, when ... bam, immediately on shore.

I don't think this one will have 1800 correct answers. I'm guessing more in the 900 range. The noobies will struggle.
