And a half hour after declaring bafflement, I’m ashore. Isaac kept asking me if I’d take another drink and I kept muttering “Ugh, take five, take five…” I had to get off the ship before the bar tab arrived.

After being on fire for much of 2019 and 2020, my meta solving skills have taken a tumble this year. I can't see this one, and I also missed ESSAY TEST last week (I'm one of the ESSAY SET crowd). Haven't solved a Week 3 MGWCC in a long while.

Can't see this one either, and I feel like I've tried everything to do with "fives."

Finally ashore, but not before getting nudged. It has been a tough couple days for me meta-wise between this one and MGWCC--- which I still haven't solved.🤔

On shore. That was quite the exhausting swim. But very satisfying to finally reach shore!

From our trip to Eris Brewery and Cidery yesterday--mine was the Punx Unfiltered.

Calling all meta nerds who keep a meta statistics spreadsheet. I fell down on the job of updating my spreadsheet while we were traveling. One of the (many) columns that I track is the rating of the puzzle. For some reason, these ratings disappear after a few weeks. Can anyone tell me what the rating was for 9/3--Interstate Travel by Mike and 9/24 Thorough Enough by Matt?

Thanks! :geek:

OMG... That is SO geeky. I can't believe you do that!

But, since you asked...

According to my spreadsheet
9/3 - 2.0
9/10 - 0.5
9/17 - 1.0
9/24 - 3.5

Note: I don't always recheck it after the last post, though it's less likely that enough ratings will come in to materially change it.

On shore on Thursday, but too busy to post/submit till today.
An excellent meta puzzle with a clever set up and a very logical solution.
Another great one from Patrick Berry.

I‘m not really a miser
I don’t have too sharp an incisor
Whether its dumber or wiser
tomorrow I‘m getting the Pfizer 💉💉

I really dont mean to blab
I‘m heading down to the lab
I‘ll probably not take a cab🚕
on my way to getting the jab

Hopefully it will be a lob
and me nobody will rob
I hope I‘m not a snob
but I would enjoy keeping my job 👩‍💻

maybe I‘ll take the Rolls Royce 🚘
my driver is finding his voice
I‘ll try to maintain my poise
but i really have no other choice

It will not make the headline 📰🗞
I don’t want to be on a breadline
So I’d better meet the deadline

being inside has been fun
after 18 months of no sun 🌞
hopefully we will have won
and the pandemic soon will be done

it won’t be a nip and a tuck
or hit me like a truck
part of it‘s going to suck
so maybe I have been a schmuck
perhaps you can wish me some luck 🍀

Busy weekend, we just now finished, took a look, and nothing came quick. Instead of the bar, we're just going to take a snooze in our cabin. Congrats to the solvers!

On shore, finally.

I completed the grid on Friday, but didn't really take a look at the meta until this afternoon. It perplexed me, but then inspiration struck and I found my way to shore. An excellent puzzle and meta. I am a fan of Patrick Berry's other puzzles for the WSJ.

Ashore. I can see why this one is baffling many but using a reliable method I found the answer pretty quickly, and it is true to Mr Berry’s style. This was a fun one! Kas 3.

Hello all, especially our newest muggle - Mr. P and other recent muggles

A few things for assistance
The Come Aboard section of this forum has a wealth of information on both history of muggledom, solving metas and asking for nudges

Under FAQ - Community/Solving resources there are: Where all this ship and shore/cruise director/pageant, etc came from are explained in Muggle Overview.

Also under Other Meta Crossword Puzzles are topics on many of the other metas that you may see mentioned. Of particular interest is the Muggle Meta Mondays which are metas created by our own muggles. And the fun part is that very often either in the clues or the grid are references to other muggles.

If you have any questions, either PM me or better yet, come to the Tuesday 7:30 pm Eastern time zoom call we have. They are fun and if you are new and have questions, we are more than willing to meet you and answer any questions.

Our final report has 26 on the ship and 149 on the shore.
Since lunch we have these additions to the ship's bar
