Poked in a few empty holes before finding the rabbit. On shore now.

Ashore!
BUT ...
Anyone else here have the slight feeling we're being pageanted?

On shore. I liked this one, possibly because the first thing I thought of was the solution.
In response to Chris, I don't think there's any chance I'm being pageanted.

Back in New York! On shore earlier this week. Love me some Patrick Berry! I was at the Film Forum at 4:00, screening "Illustrious Corpses" ("Cadaveri eccellenti"), an Italian thriller from 1976.

As with last week, I “think” I am ashore. I have a four letter word, and the way I got it makes sense, but yeah I feel like I maybe found myself in a pageant situation.
Edit: either way, I liked the puzzle.

Sorry, Wendy! I inadvertently echoed your sentiment exactly, posting without reading! Seems we both love us some PB, even without the J!Wendy Walker wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:33 pm Love me some Patrick Berry! A tricky one!
Oh, BTW, I had dinner with my nephew last night and he concurs with Will P that "no one" in academia says "essay test" anymore.

Yikes, I'm now seeing TWO things that make me fear I've been pageanted!Eric Porter wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 6:09 pm On shore. I liked this one, possibly because the first thing I thought of was the solution.

Though I'm not seeing supporting evidence. So I'd still go with my answer.

Well that took me awhile, especially after chasing a wild hare that went nowhere. Count me on shore with confidence. Great puzzle by Mr. Berry, as always!

Dang! I’m not sure I’ll be there in time for that. Just finishing the grid. Count me on the ship until further notice.
