Stuck in the bar, even with a gentle nudge, I'm just not feeling Patrick this week. Congrats to all you smart solvers!

Edit:
On shore after my muggle mentor gave me a significant boot in the right direction, very tricky. As I told him, I still enjoy wrestling with these each week even tho I'm not very good at them. 😁 Really impressed by those of you who consistently solve.

After staying up until 6am taking a cat to the vet (she is fine), DH and I figured it out. Onshore.

Folks in NYC must have taken a piece of the moon then. (Moon said, "You wanna piece of me?" NYC says back, "Dat can be arranged...") I'm 2 hours almost directly west (maybe a little WNW), and we have a pretty full waxing gibbous. (About 86% according to TimeAndDate.com.) It was pretty bright last night. Full moon in 4 days.

But no Aurora Borealis, alas. After hearing the geomagnetic storm was causing it to come further south earlier this week, I had hopes. But PA was too far south.

Found a few rabbit holes to explore in the open waters -- was getting fatigued with all that dog paddling, which is cue to request redirection -- now ashore! 🏖🍹

Taking five with Isaac and no idea where to begin on the meta. Setting it aside for now. Would love a nudge!

Well, I did this Thursday shortly after I got married and shortly before I got stuck with the stomach flu for two days. But I waited until now before posting here.

I really liked this one. It was a definite AHA moment and one you could systematically pull apart until you got it. I *do* like these "what the heck can that even mean" only to realize "Oh, I could figure it out if I dig at it".
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

I had to put this down and pick it up again maybe four times before everything clicked.
Felt like I should have gotten it sooner. But it really is a clever puzzle.

Now back to MGWCC, which has resisted all my efforts so far.

Have been visiting with Isaac since Thursday. Have found several paths, but they are leading nowhere. Studying some previous Patrick Berry puzzles for inspiration!

Looking at previous Patrick Barry puzzles definitely helped unstick me! Finally on the beach :-) I did have to backsolve for one part and would appreciate comparing notes with someone.

On Shore since yesterday. Fun as usual!! Then on to more Patrick Berry: Puzzle #7 of Patrick Berry's Containment Policy puzzle suite. It's a Riding The Waves variety like the 10/2/2021 WSJ variety, but with one of the dastardly extra confounders that he adds to each of the puzzles in the suite. Tough and hilarious. Took last night AND this afternoon. Now on to MGWCC

Ashore. This is a very clever meta. I re-learned one of the most important (to me) lessons: Upon reaching the moment when I become convinced I will never get the solution, because I cannot see any traces of patterns, coincidences or connections among the clues, title, hint, grid patterns or entries, it is time to look again, and again if necessary, with breaks if necessary. Reminder: it is surely not the case that the constructor accidentally forgot to include a mechanism in this week’s puzzle. (The Editor would almost certainly have caught that.) Nosiree, it is there, right in front of my eyes, invisible for the time being, but beckoning me to discover it. And the best part is, if I’m fortunate enough to have experienced that moment of utter hopelessness on my way to AHA!, the solve will be ever so much more exhilarating as a result. At least that is my experience.

Is there a cause and effect between getting married and coming down with the stomach flu?

Congratulations on getting married.

Congratulations on your marriage! I’m impressed you did the puzzle after getting married… that is real dedication! 😂
