A bit of a late start as I was busy planting pawpaws. In the last few weeks I have had my first tastes of wild persimmons from trees in my woods, and pawpaws. Both surprisingly delicious. Now I need to figure out how to make them into some sort of concoction to celebrate my quick trip to shore.

On the beach! G & T, please (later tonight, Australian time!)
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Ashore! Struggled with (arguably) the most important part of the grid, but smooth sailing after that. Best of luck to all!

On shore after making it way harder than I had to. Off to start my colonoscopy prep now. Hope everyone's evening is more fun than mine promises to be! :(

Popping out of lurkdom to say that this is probably the first meta that my dad, age 87, has solved on his own! I introduced him to metas a couple of years ago, and now he does the grids most Thursdays but has little luck (or patience) with the metas. He tries for about a minute and then quits, and when I try to explain them he generally says "No way; glad I didn't waste my time on it." On a few easier ones, I've managed to nudge him a little to the solution. But today he solved before I did! He is submitting the answer as I type, and said he may frame the puzzle :-D

OK this was fun and not a gimme in any way. Toes in sand. Hmmmm….getting cooler on the beach. It’s Syrah time.

Stay well all

ASHORE

So is the WSJ on to me? When I first checked the site for the puzzle, it wasn't there -- only a button to click to subscribe.
Well, they picked the wrong critter to dangle a carrot in front of --

(Puzzle showed up after about 30 minutes of hitting refresh, so obviously not the reason I'm on page whatever. :D )

I think I am ashore but I may have a problem with it. I guess I’ll find out on Sunday night.

Count me on the shore. I had to sit on it and come back. When I did, the answer was very apparent. I'll take a tall glass of Nice Quiet Weekend.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.
