Solved the puzzle but still pondering the meta.....maybe a couple cups of coffee on a rainy Maine afternoon will help me find the right rabbit hole

Hanging with Isaac as well. Figured I'd go ahead and crack a crispy pilsner from untitled art just to get the gears turning on my day off. I've dug a few small holes, but no rabbit in sight just yet.

I may be totally wrong (since I obviously have not solved it) but convinced enough to believe that I should just drop it before investing more time into it.
I really don't think you will.

I rated this one a 4.5 difficulty; even though I somehow solved it I do think it is rather hard, or at least tricky.

The grid came easy. Just had time to glance at the finished product.

I've got a bad feeling about this. I shouldn't have come. I'm jeorpardizing the mission.

That's your imagination, kid. Come on, let's keep a little optimism here.

On shore. My husband and I have a little ritual on Friday mornings. He cuts out the crossword contest puzzle, dates it in large numbers, and then hands it to me. Generally not until then do I check this forum to see the ratings and check who the clever first-pagers are. I complete the grid at breakfast, with my husband acting as the source of answers requiring knowledge of sports (unless the answer is Ott, Orr, or something to do with the Alou brothers). If nothing jumps out, I put the puzzle aside. The three stars for a Gaffney puzzle had made my heart sink this morning, but at lunch today the solution came quickly. As others have said, some metas fit right in with the way one's mind works, while some don't. And yes, I file way the completed puzzle, solved or not.

It is nice to have a week were by Friday afternoon we don't have over 16 pages... isn't it?

This one was tricky but not overly difficult I thought. I'd give it a 4 maybe 3.5 but closer to a 4. It was certainly an enjoyable one.

My first time posting, been completing the grids for a few weeks. Toughest solve yet, got the grid but not ashore (am I saying the right things?). The irony of the puzzle name and my inability to solve the clue is getting to me! WillI I be stuck on the boat all Shabbat long? Shabbat observer here. Hopefully when it’s over I’ll be ashore? I need a raft!

Sailed through the grid, but this is one of those weeks where I can't figure out how to get started on the meta! Make it a stiff one, Isaac!
