Completely lost at sea and Isaac is starting to give me dirty looks due to my frequent eruptions of anger-induced profanity. I don't even know where to start with this one!

EDIT: I give. Isaac is about to ban me from the bar. Any and all nudges gratefully accepted.

EDIT #2: On shore thanks to a friendly nudge. I won't be submitting but wish everyone else good luck!

Which lake is that behind you?
That's Piseco Lake, just south of Indian Lake.
Bring back the Cowsills.

Love the Cowsills -- I knew a band in college that used to cover "The Rain, the Park & Other Things"

On the boat with Isaac again.

I guess the run of easy ones is over.

We are on shore! Team effort this week. I did the grid and looked in some rabbit holes, then son joined in and steered us to shore.

Onshore AT LAST. Yeesh. I made that so hard. Especially once I started conflating this with MGWCC

I am with Isaac. I have a very tantalizing lead - which is unfortunate for me, because it means I won’t give up. Until tomorrow night anyway.

Looks like I’ve found a fairly good-sized group of “my people.” For some reason they’re never on the first couple of pages. 🧐

It's clear to me that I am not in possession of "good crossword solver's thinking", certainly this week. Hanging with Isaac, happily, and not figuring on a beach side arrival this week.

Enjoy the weekend, Muggles.
I have never seen so many shots land in places that I am familiar with. And I have never seen so many impossible recovery shots either.

Went on a first college visit with granddaughter and her mom. Finished grid easily then stared at it all the way there and all the way back. Still going in circles; rabbits everywhere. I was told this gets easier. Where is the bar?

After a two day volleyball tournament, I finally have a chance to take a look at the finished grid. Nope,...still nothing. Guess I will be sitting with Isaac for awhile!

On the shore. This was not the most difficult WSJ meta I have encountered, but it is the most difficult one I have been able to solve. That makes today special. There was one rabbit hole with enormous staying power -- just could not let go of it. Perhaps one of the undervalued skills in this endeavor is knowing when to let go. When you're stuck in one, you never know whether or not success is right around the next corner, because a rabbit hole and the right path look the same until they don't. This is a very clever meta and a great learning experience.

Isaac was so kind to suggest fried calamari from the bar menu. It was deliciously tender and the tempura batter was light and crispy.
I'll still be here tomorrow and it's gonna take a seafood tower to get through this solve.

Plenty of time to solve.
Sitting on the Rocky Mountaineer? With bourbon yet! Boy, am I jealous!
