Hanging out on the ship. I guess that CALling me a good meta thinker is an IFfy proposition--at least for the moment. Which makes me rather forlORN. I need a stroke of brillIAnce--and QUickly because I certainly don't want to fAIL.

I have no idea what’s going on here, so I’ll just take a seat at the bar.

I have to say that ever since Matt’s Zoom call where he said he had an amazing idea for a puzzle that he keeps coming back to but hasn’t quite nailed down, every other week I wonder “Is this the one?”

On shore.

Sort of got my mojo back....Although I was talking aloud in the car and the driver said something pertinent.

I'll have... a plum floating in perfume served in a man's hat.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Hmm .. I have a great guess at the answer but have no idea yet how to make the word from this grid. It will be fun if it turns out to be right, but if I’m wrong it will likely just keep me from seeing the RIGHT answer!

Wanting to come ashore a lot earlier this week, I decided to print the meta ahead of my print edition arriving tomorrow morning.

Did it do me any good?

Well I solved the grid and have stared at it 3 separate times after 3 separate intermissions hoping for inspiration.

Nope!

My ashore moment will probably come for me to announce on page 18 on Saturday evening.

I'm going back to old school next week.

Solved.
Is there a section of the beach marked off for all of us backsolvers?

Grid done but no traction on the meta. Came up to the bar to get a feeling for it. It’s 9:00 pm Mtn time on Thursday and only 68 posts. That tells me it ain’t no gimmee. I’ll have a drink for now and stare at it tomorrow. Isaac, hot toddy, please.

Delighted to be ashore! (It's not always easy to puzzle while traveling.)

I'm right there with you. Hoping for post-enlightenment. Or at least that sleeping on it will bring inspiration in the morning.

Finished grid and staring at it but nothing jumping out at me, not even a silly rabbit 🐇….guess I’ll hang with Isaac for now.

Anita wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 4:38 pm Wish I could make first page sometime, but it's never going to happen. Partly because I can be dumb as a brick about these, but also because I work them over lunch, which I don't take till nearly 2pm Pacific. I've got it printed but won't have a chance to look at it for another 10 or 15 minutes. See you on page 3, maybe, if I'm lucky! ;-)

Deleted 1st post & copied here with apologies: Awaiting a policy to be established before moving future POEs (Page One Encroachments).

[please don't discuss the meta mechanism before the deadline]
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Perhaps. I think that beach may face Back Bay.
