Wonder what percentage of the folks here harbor such tendencies. Have long wondered how anybody *without* such tendencies ever gets anything done.

Ashore, in record time. Like many others, solved before finishing the grid. But we’ll take it!

Ashore. I predict a record of some kind. Support your local (or any) High School sports as they start the season. Hope restrictions are lessened in your area so you are able to attend - please wear a mask regardless! First swim meet of the year this weekend - go Cubs!

I think Captain Stubing just ran the whole ocean liner aground on the beach.

hoover wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 10:45 am This is the second mention of February. What's special about February? I joined this spring, so I haven't experienced a February WSJ meta.
WSJ ran a "metas for beginners" series in February, and lowered the difficulty of the puzzles that month to help new solvers.
Additionally, those four puzzles from February were the basis for a tutorial, Contest Crosswords 101 https://www.wsj.com/articles/contest-cr ... 1625757841. There was no indication that this would be an annual February event.
Also available here, on Xword Muggles.

I can’t remember if I posted, but I came ashore Thursday night - one of my fastest solves ever. Have given up drinking, sadly, so looking for the tiki bartender to make me a mocktail.

Ashore.

Some weekends I might take some extra time to make sure we're not being PAGEANTed. Not gonna fret over it this weekend.

Ashore last night.

Think I must have gotten on the wrong ship. Started out heading to Isaac's bar but stepped into a room called "USS Enterprise - Transporter Room." Never had the chance to say, "Beam me to the beach, Scotty" before I found myself there.
