I'm not trusting the easy answer yet. I shall cogitate a bit before submitting. Hmm...
Update: further cogitation proved fruitless. Submitted and ashore!

Ashore with the growing beach party. Agree this seemed too easy.

On shore - 35 minutes in and on page 4! Beach will be crowded this weekend.

Can we now take a pause so the cryptic mavens @RPardoe @madhatter5 can write cryptic names for the 60 plus who have solved?

And no comments about the title? Did this initially come out as Dud, Where's My Car?

On Shore. Late start. Four minutes to solve. Fourteen minutes to complete grid. Still wouldn't have made Page 1.

Ashore!

I saw the mechanism early, but finished the grid before solving, just in case there was something else I was missing. Very straightforward. Perhaps, too much so? Like others, I'm second-guessing my quick solve.

Oh, well. Vodka gimlet, please!

Reading all the hesitancy, it’s amazing how snakebitten we are by PAGEANT. This one seems a solid lock, hard to imagine how there could be a PAGEANT lurking. But one never knows I suppose.

Ashore. Quick and easy, if correct. But what if they meant "DUD, WHERE'S MY CAR?" . . .

This is a good one for beginners. (Title reminds me that I once lost my car at Disney World. I had forgotten where I parked it, and as it was a rental I forgot the color as well.)

Already can't find space on the beach. Can't help but think there's a twist -- it can't really be that easy, can it? Is it February again?
