If anyone wants to hear my adolescent witticisms regarding this, they can DM me. I have four or five, but I have a high regard for this forum and all my esteemed fellow and lady Muggles.

Read it carefully in the original and decided that it was merely a sophisticated way of stating it.

So, you're the only "guy" present? With a bunch of wimmin drinkin in the pool??

Ashore, and confident that (this time) I got it right. Perhaps a margarita tonight.

Ashore.

Great meta but all these cinema-related clues in the grid have got to go!

On shore with an answer that's 100%, but I missed a step after step #1, so I'm not exactly sure how I got here.

I'll take a gin gimlet anyway!

I am on shore.
I am not on vacation. I didn't have any pressing work to complete. I had no visitors staying here. I had absolutely no obligations that kept me from the puzzle.
It took me ALL this time to see the answer.

Just started today and after a day of touring, eating and drinking I got back to it tonight. Took me FOREVER to catch the last bit and it was driving me insane. Finally got it near midnight here (France) and sent in.

Interestingly enough my wife has vowed that In Seine IS EXACTLY where I’ll be if I keep doing crosswords on vacation!!!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

On shore again this week! Enjoyed the grid and the meta method, a new one for me. Time to relax until the ship sails again. Ahhhh.

Belatedly done, got sidetracked by some MLB outfielder data research. I know, who didn't?

Have a great Labor Day, and I'll leave you with a foster cat for daughter #2, not to be confused with one of her three actual cats. You'd be surprised how many cats you can get in 600 square feet...

Ashore. And managed to solve it before finding the (entire) mechanism to get there. I guess my interstate travel took the form of a shortcut bwah

On the beach!
Solved it on Thursday after a procedure that required sedation. Being sedated really alters your perception of the world, so it's good that they don't let you drive for 12 hours after the procedure.
Since I didn't have access to a printer, I hand-drew the grid. I had the grid filled by 6 PM, but could not figure out the mechanism. At 11 PM, about 11 and a half hours after the procedure, the answer dawned on me. It was right in my blind spot. I didn't figure out the intended hint until a half hour after that at 11:30 PM.
One of the buses I had intended to take to the medical center was cancelled and that fact didn't seem to be listed on the transit authority's web site. So I had to ask one of the other bus drivers about the missing bus: "Oh, it's been canceled due to flooding." I then had to take a bus back to where I started, drive to the medical center (over an hour and a half late) and leave my car there over night. Quite an adventure for the day after Ida wreaked havoc on the area.
