Given the progression of the past few weeks, I thought there would be a FOur in the title. But Matt gave us something else to puRSue. And now the paddlers and the boaTERS head to shore in our eTERNal quest to win the mug! This was a fun one. But now I must return to scrubbing my kitchen floor--really.

In honor of World Elephant Day, I will have some Amarula later.

Very much enjoyed some Amarula in my coffee during our game drives in South Africa, and was very happy to find some here in the Virginia ABC stores, where the selection is anything but overwhelming. And here's a picture of me with Sebakwe, the elephant featured on the Amarula bottle. He's in the Jabulani Elephant Rescue (https://jabulanisafari.com/) at the Kapama Game Lodge outside of Kruger near Hoedspruit.

I was quoting Scott M, hoping to be on the same page as them, but I was the first post on page 3 so it's not as ... noticeable.

That took me longer than it should have. I think I solved the way Schmeel did. Saw something, got an answer, ok I guess but why, remembered something, took another look, and aha! Very nice! If you haven't got the solid click, you're probably still midway through that process.

They always seem easy to the earliest solvers just because those are the people who happened on the mechanism right away. It wouldn't make much sense for someone who found the rabbit in the first hole they explored and had the answer in 10 minutes to call it hard, even if many others will spend days digging around other paths before getting to the answer.

We have a justifiable - but far too inelegant - answer, so we'll languish in the littoral zone for now.

Okay, grid done. I suspect the Meta will materialize somewhere around Pg. 12 or 14, per usual...

We really thought we saw the solution but it didn’t pan (for gold) out. We’ll keep looking, and don’t worry, I PROMISE to absolutely overcomplicate it as per usual!

On shore.

I don't quite understand why some are unsatisfied with the answer. I thought this one was great.
At first I had no idea what to do. I thought of a few things that I couldn't make work and set it down for a little while. When I picked it back up, I realized that my ideas were actually on the right track but I hadn't put it together.

hoover wrote: Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:53 pm Now that page 1 is done ... Filled in the grid handily, but still looking. I see quite a few interesting things but haven't put them together yet.

More importantly, where's Al?
Perhaps someone should check on Al. This one should have him asking for a Guinness.

So our first thought was on the right track. We tried another tactic (a few ways) that also didn’t quite work. But when we put them together — BAM! Solution! I liked it! This one feels like a definite click for me if you go about it the right way, but I do think you can come up with a guess via the first way we tried, hence I think why some people aren’t satisfied..?

Ashore! Not a strong meta'er, but this one opened right up for me. Personally felt that the process and response were very satisfying.

Yeah, this is a 100%er. Should be no ambiguity.
