Our final count is 17 on the ship running up a tab with Isaac and 164 on the shore keeping Meg's cabana boy busy.

Joining those with Isaac are JRS51 and CPJohnson who was there all along but I was sure I saw her on the beach.

And those making it to shore since lunch are

I do not want to be unkind
I’d rather suck on a lemon rind 🍋
This seven letter word is hard to find
Lots of Muggles getting into a bind

Lots of Muggles going though h-ll
What is the answer? I won’t tell 🤫
Nudges are free though, I don’t sell
Not all at once though, rushing pell-mell

Some are spoiling for a fight
Everyone wants to get it right
Especially since the deadline is tonight 🕰
My nudges however are very light

Those who got it already, great!
Others may see it a little late
There is just no time to wait
Submit tonight right under the gate 🚧

Even if you’ve lost your way
Tired and tousled, bills to pay
Here’s one thing you’ll be glad to say
I’m rooting for Team USA 🇺🇸

I must be on a submarine. I've "gone down with the ship" countless times.
Yet, we resurface dry as a Churchill Martini each and every Thursday.
Ohhhh, Isaac!

I’m a poet* Kay, I’m free form.
Don’t confuse me with facts.

(*no not really, as all of you can wearily attest)

Ashore.

My husband got us started, then I was able to bring it home. Very happy, especially after several frustrating weeks of not solving.

Luckily saw this one pretty quick after having a hard time with the grid. Toes firmly in the sand!

Ashore. Snuck this one in under the wire. I did the grid and had an idea about the meta on Friday but was busy yesterday and spent all afternoon competing in the Boswords summer tournament. I've done a lot of crosswords today.

Have now completed the four part meta lesson. Applied all my newly acquired knowledge. Nothing. Feeling like I'm in the Truman show.

I've been stuck here with Isaac all weekend, nothing to show for it but a few shallow rabbitholes and a large tab...hand is firmly poised to smack head in 6... 5...

Was stuck for a few minutes until I saw the crossings. Then it was obvious.

Sigh. Although I looked at the clues for a clue, obviously I did not look at them closely enough. If I had, I would have seen that several of them had something in common, e.g. a certain abbreviation. I think perhaps it might help to look at the PDF where I can see all the clues at once. Solving them on the WSJ site, I can see only about 8 across and 8 down clues at a time. Some weeks I use the spreadsheet, but the spreadsheet wasn't out yet when I started solving this week, and I never bothered to transfer over.
