Nice smooth grid and clever meta for the holiday weekend. On shore where all muggles belong on the fourth! It'll be a giant party, I'm sure!

Wow. Ashore. For real. No sweat. Leapt off the page. Predict that Isaac will be very lonely this week.

Happy Independence Day! My personal favorte holiday.

On shore. Lots of ideas that made lots of gibberish followed by an aha and done. Short week, long weekend for me.

That was a fun swim to shore. Had to take a nap between filling the grid and solving the meta, but it all came together. Happy Independence Day!

On the beach. It was a quick swim for a change. Did I get lucky or is the WSJ following the Gaffney weekly protocol?

The world‘s looking up
I‘m here with my pup 🐶
I know what‘s involved
I have it solved
So give me my cup 🍻

Im feeling so smug
I‘m here with my pug 🐩
I keep getting betta
at doing the meta
So give me my mug. 🍺

I‘m here with my pooch 🐶
No he‘s not a mooch
Ive found what‘s enclosed
Ive turned up my nose
So I‘ll get a smooch

Happy fourth to all 🇺🇸
if youve hit a wall
while doing the meta
it‘s sure to get bettah
not long you will stall.

No need to feel queasy
or even a bit wheezy
I‘m here with my dog 🐕
it‘s been no hard slog
This one‘s RELATIVELY easy.

(I don’t have a dog but it rhymed. Stay safe and healthy everyone this Independence Day weekend!)

On shore, finally. All of these posts saying it's simple got me to look for something like that.

"Hard" ones like last week are easy for me because it's a pattern I recognize.
"Easy" ones like this week can be hard for me because I look for something too complex.

I ended up finding my way to the solution in a way that was unintended. I was upset that I didn't think of it sooner.

It looks like I'll hang here with Isaac for a while, maybe all evening. I have the fairly obvious first step but have stalled out on finishing.
Hopefully I'll see it when I come back for another look.

Too much happening this afternoon to make it to page 1 (or apparently pages 2-4!). But happily onshore. Happy 4th to all!

Ashore. 🏖

The grid was a bit slow to complete because I didn't understand the theme answers until after I completed the grid and looked back. Then I had to tinker with my method to get the correct meta answer to shake out. But still fairly quick, around 30 minutes total.

Haven't read the comments yet, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to note that I am no longer 19A. Thursday night still only gets me onto page 5. Oh well, I'll have a beer! :)
