The answer to this week’s contest is a verb used in cooking meat.

Enjoy and good luck!

Nice puzzle! Tougher than usual grid, but meta puzzle fans know what that means.

O.K. I have step one. I see something to work with, but do not yet know what to do with it.

Meta was too easy, which means that I have it wrong, most likely. One foot sandy-ish, the other holding onto the deck by its heel, for now.

Dom is traveling to see my parents this weekend and attend a retreat at Malvern Laymen's Retreat House. It's his birthday! And to double the fun, my only daughter is his twin sister - so happy birthday to Dom and Emmy! I have completed the grid but I am at work and haven't tried to crack the meta. I will try to take advantage of his inability to attend to the meta while traveling to beat him to shore.

Funny how there are some things I try all the time when I get stuck, and they never work. Until one week, they do.

Got it! On shore.
