Done and dusted. Poked my head down a few rabbit holes before I had my Aha Experience. Kudos to Mr. Shenk, quite an enjoyable puzzle!

I heard that the local law enforcement played an integral part in preventing derivatives of the drugs from hitting the streets and also found several weapons of math destruction.

I think police laid a trap-azoid for them. Plus I see graph paper. They must be plotting something.
If they are using derivatives then it is higher math

Don’t know why it took me so long to find the beach. The cabana boy is thrilled to see people here strolling and drinking. He’s been taking Zoom ukulele lessons and can’t wait to play for us. Margarita please!

On shore. My daughter is home from college for only a day or so before her summer internship. So I was rushing to finish to make dinner out with family and friends.
EDIT: But still enough time to crack a cold one first.
