“Use the Fourth” (A Mikey Meta)

On the calendar and
https://punofakind.blogspot.com/?m=1

Today's puzzle has a Level of 3 of 5, but your mileage may vary! To quote the one and only Matt Gaffney, "Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive."

There is a multi-word directive concealed within this puzzle. The answer to that directive is the answer to this meta.

I see some inroads but not the final solution.
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

I am there as well. I am going back an forth (or would it be fourth per the title) on whether 17A is or is not what it says it is or is not!

Checking out Peacock Prime's coverage of the Tour de France as I can't stand the NBC Sports coverage at all, fiddling with the puzzle, I suddenly see what I was supposed to see

Answer submitted.

Got it with some commiserating. Wow! Give this guy his own sub group so more people find his puzzles. Mind boggling!

This made me laugh out loud, hahaha.
Less cross words, more crosswords.

This puzzle got me wondering if we could start doing an annual "Muggles' Choice" honor, where we vote for our favorite meta. Unfortunately, it's mid-year and I have a terrible memory, but I'm going to start taping up my favorites near my computer so I can have a "Top Five" wall or something. Then I'll have them handy to grab when I want to subject someone to an example of how I spend all my time.

Karen—That’s a great idea. We should form a muggles committee and give out prizes at the end of the year for the best puzzles. ESPN has the ESPYs, we could have the METYs.

The Crossword Fiend has the ORCAS every year. One of the categories is "Best Contest Puzzle". The 2020 winner and the Honorable Mentions were all metas from the MGWCC, the WSJ, Fireball and MMMM. Not trying to rain on your parade.

Making less work for me and others is never discouraged. Any idea how puzzles are nominated? Does the crossword fiend even see Mikey’s or Will’s puzzles?
