"Miles to Go" - January 7, 2021

Nice meta here: http://www.lexicondevil.live/2021/01/pu ... -meta.html

Ricky warns that the grid may require some googling. It did indeed for me -- mainly to confirm some guesses.

He characterizes it as a Week 3, but I saw it as more like a Week 2 or 2-point-something.

Have fun!

Solved. With apologies to Cindy. I'm not meaning to plagiarize.

Submitted. I think that the meta answer is pretty clear once you have the mechanism.

Got it. Yeesh, I've got a stack of these to do now; too much doom-scrolling (and actual work).

I finally solved one of these! Fun puzzle, Ricky.

Thanks Chris for starting this thread or I wouldn’t have seen it.

Thanks Chris for starting the thread.

Just updated the leaderboard -- people are doing quite well with this one. All the correct submissions to date come from Muggles, too.

Was making this a lot harder than necessary.
Simplified, solved and submitted.

Took me a while to see the method-nice puzzle Ricky. Are the stickers ever going to be sent or should I just give up the ghost on that one?

Yours is ordered and should be on the way. Sorry for the delay - I was trying to get a bulk order of a bunch of stickers & other promotional items and then mail them myself but the lead time was just too long.

Speaking of stickers and mugs and the like, in an ideal world I'd be giving winners travel mugs like these bad boys I just added to the Lexicon Devil store (okay, in an ideal world I'd be giving everyone things that are much better than travel mugs, but...). Maybe I can get these made up somewhere else for less than $25 apiece?

This took me about 3 days and 30 minutes to solve: 15 min for the grid, 10 min to not solve the meta, 3 days of forgetting I had an unsolved puzzle, 5 min to solve the meta with fresh eyes.
