MEOW #11: Move On

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

Thought I would try this one. Last week's cat is trapped forever, but this one is out of the bag.

Rather than wearing out my Thumbs Up button I'll just say that I'm chortling over these feline, etc. posts -- definitely worth the price of admission!

Cat's out of the bag, and I didn't suffer a scratch.

MEOW, Lots of fun!
Had to think about 41D to make 39A work...was initially thinking of Roman numerals

Thanks!

Ditto! I mean it fit nicely, unless I wanted to make 39A make sense. But the good part is that I learned something because I did not know those came from there.

The answer this week was quite witty
But unfortunately quick, what a pity
Since the TV's consumed
With the fact we are doomed
I'm at least glad I salvaged my kitty

Out of the bag and currently throwing papers in the floor....

Nudge Saturday! (Slightly late, sorry)

Pay particular attention to 57-A

The exact number of repeated entries is important.

The platitude in question means "move on", as in, don't hold grudges.

I needed the final nudge to get the cat out of the bag. Waiting for confirmation.

EDIT: confirmed.

I think I have it. Sometimes the seemingly simple ones make you doubt yourself.

Edit: Confirmed.

Ah wow I forgot to post the solution :)

Solution:

The words GIVE and GET are each repeated four times in the grid. The solution is thus FORGIVE AND FORGET.
