MEOW #42: That's One L of a Puzzle

#1

Post by madhatter5 »

Hi all and welcome to the forty-second installment of the MEOW!

I really wanted to have a Hitchhiker's Guide theme this week, but unfortunately I was not clever enough to come up with anything. (though did you know that ARTHUR DENT anagrams to DARTH NATURE?). So instead, this week's puzzle is brought to you by the letter L.

The answer to this meta is something I hope you will say about it.

Rating updated (now it starts with an L :))

If no one solves by tomorrow I'll release a backup puzzle.

I'd prefer a nudge to a new puzzle.

Ok I'll give an early nudge :)

You are looking for six phantom Ls hiding in the grid

Ditto. Not sure why we would look for this method without some sort of clue in the puzzle. Interesting idea by Josh but won’t rank as my favorite.

Otherwise I've screwed it up again. But if I had I think Rich would have spotted it ;)

Several nudges. I believe I’ve found the answer.
edit: got it. The cat is out of the bag and sort of aimlessly wandering around the living room.

I haven't got it but I'm utterly confounded by the number of people who claim to have gotten it with the given nudge. So far as I can figure out the 6 phantom L's in the grid were obvious from the beginning as was title of the puzzle and that every clue began with L. It's just that what to do with any of it was puzzling and I don't see how the spoiler can have helped any one.

But then, I haven't gotten it so there must have been more to the spoiler than I read into it.... Confounded

Me too. I see the (1st spoiler) things, but what to do with them I do not know. 6D has me scratching my head.

Got it, with just a little “don’t go there” kind of nudging from Boharr. A fun puzzle! Enjoyed the AHA!
