20210623 MEOW 30 — whimsy — Branches of Litterature — Excel form

Hope I've done that ^^ right! If not, I'm sure Joe will set us straight! :)

Anyhow, let's see --

Unchecked letters? Yup.
Two-letter entries? Yup.
Daffy clues and entries? Yup.
Non-symmetric crazy quilt grid? Yup.

But I hope the entertainment value will forgive all that!

******Just been alerted to the fact that there's an inadvertent red herring present in the grid, so I'd like all to know that 19A is NOT part of the solve!*****

The cat is out of the bag, and …

Well, I’ll stop there.

Confidently awaiting confirmation.

UPDATE: Confirmed!

Much fun!

Second time's the charm, I'm sure. Submitted a wrong first guess.

I didn't read the comments here before submitting, and now I'm even less sure that I got it right (I wasn't certain to begin with). We'll see. Still, it was fun!

Edit: Oops, the cat's still stuck in the bag! Hopefully it will find its way out soon :-)

Finally got this one with help.

And cultural luddite that I am - didn't get the click even with the answer in front of me. My googling to verify went an alternate way initially.
So in a sense I got it, but didn't "get it". (No PMs needed - I got it now.)

*******SOLVERS-TO-BE*******

I have an opportunity to visit a museum sculpture park that I cannot turn down on such a gorgeous day in these parts.
I'll be away from the computer till about mid-afternoon. Sorry for the interruption, but I shall return!

NOW the cat's out. Like others, I only saw half of it on my first try. Great construction!
