"Some Assembly Required" - March 7, 2021

Post by hazmat »

Mini Meta from Will. From his email:

This week's puzzle: Some Assembly Required (parts 1-9)
Complexity Scale™ rating of 4 / 10.

This week's puzzle is a little different. In fact, some of you may have already started on it! The meta consists of 9 mini 5x5 puzzles. These mini puzzles have appeared as Crosshare's daily minis since Monday, the 1st, all the way through today!! (hence the graphic above!) You do need to solve all 9 minis in order to figure out the meta.

The answer to this week's meta is an item that resurged in popularity during quarantine.
(You shouldn't need Google at all for this meta).

Since there are 9 minis and each one is their own separate PDF or puz file, I've attached them to this email in compressed folders. If you're having trouble unzipping those folders to access the files, check out the tutorial at this link: https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-unzip-files . If that doesn't work and you're still having trouble accessing the attachments, shoot me an email and I can send them individually.

Good luck! Let me know if you need a nudge! Make sure to get those answers in by 8:00am eastern time on Wednesday!

Happy solving!
Cheers,
Will

Really a neat concept. Between Peter in the WaPo and now Will this could become the hot new thing. 🦕

Had the right idea, incorrectly applied for an initial answer.
Got to a much better solution with a second effort.

Nice execution of this concept, including some consistencies that must have put a lot of pressure on the grids.

Dino me!

Terrific puzzle!

Though I needed some help. This was a case where I guessed at the answer, and I suspected what to do, but I was missing something, and I needed another Muggle to get me focused. Grrr!! I should have been able to get there on my own.

This is an awesome puzzle! Shame on me for sensing how to solve this and then spending hours trying to find an easier method.

Thanks Will!
