Or not to be?
Interesting question
There’s the rub.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous misdirection,
Or to take arms against a sea of rabbit trails,
And by opposing end them? To solve: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache of plenteous grid based subterfuge
That a mind is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To try, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance a mechanism to dream

Satisfyingly off the couch. One of the best MMMs (or really any meta) this year IMO. Superb.

:couch_and_lamp: I needed a bit of help off the couch. Agree with all of above - a fantastic meta!

Solved and submitted. That definitely required my thinking cap. I know this is the wrong forum, but I need a gin and tonic!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

As of the moment, we have approximately 18 solvers, not counting the test solvers. (“Approximately” because I've probably left someone out. If that’s you, please let me know.)

Al Sisti (TS)
madhatte5 (TS)
Abide (TS)
1. FrankieHeck
2. Dannyvee
3. oldjudge
4. Small Wave Dave
5. Darth
6. Wendy Walker
7. hcbirker
8. Woozy
9. Rpardoe
10. boharr
11. ChrisKochmanski
12. DrTom
13. Meg
14. LesY
15. KayW
16. TMart
17. benchen71
18. Laura M

For everyone else, here are some nudges, in increasing order of nudginess.

The prompt is also a hint, though non-Shakespeareans might need Google to see just who it’s referring to.

The Shakespeare quotes, like the slight change in the lyrics to Da Do Ron Ron, are there only to make the theme obvious. They are not in themselves part of the solution.

The clue at 48 Across suggests what to do.

An alternate title could have been "The Second Half."

Do some of the clues seem contrived and clunky? Those, and some less clunky, are the ones to pay attention to.

Off the couch.

I had already figured out Spoilers one and two. I still do not understand Spoiler three.

Spoiler four was what I needed although looking back at my notes I had it mapped out, noticed something with three entries but could not figure out how to finish them without this nudge.

I did not need Spoiler five.

Fun meta. Just complex enough to be a fun challenge, even with the nudge that I used.

There's a typo in Spoiler 3. The 5 should be an 8. I've corrected it for nudgees-come-lately.

I was test-shoved more than test-solved, but I really enjoyed this mechanism, especially with Jay nudging me through it.

I really really did enjoy this. My only complaint is I thought the prompt references to RomComs was misleading. Otherwise this is exactly what I want a meta to be (now if I can just get a toehold on this week's MEOW which I suspect would also be exactly what I want a meta to be except I just can't see it [which I suppose makes it exactly what I don't want a meta to be]).

Now you've gone & torn it, showing me how to customize spoiler buttons! You just *had* to go & do it! I hope you're satisfied...

I hereby absolve myself of responsibility for future acts in this regard.
