Loved this!
Confirmed, so off the couch and with a plan to find a good garden seat

Now which one to choose?? The green bench or the tree stump we left when we had to take down the huge 100 year old silver maple last year? Both have the same well loved view.

Okay, I know everyone is focused on MGWCC (myself included), but here's the "reveal". Each of the grid entries related to the six "asterisked" clues had another grid entry that could also have been an answer to the asterisked clues, and each rhymed with "A PLAN". Once you found those six grid entries, in GRID ORDER of the original entries, you ended up with PERSIA (see solution below). Since the answer is a 4-letter word, the meta answer is IRAN, which also rhymes with A PLAN.

I had several who asked for nudges that had the correct letters, but in the incorrect order (e.g. PERIAS). This approach assumed that the order was based on Across entries, and then Down. Legitimate approach, but not the correct one in this case.

Thanks to all who solved (or attempted to)!

P.S. - Kudos to Snood who came up with the alternate meta title ANguish. :-)

Sorry I couldn't get to this one - I like the mechanism! I usually am slammed during the week but can't unring a bell now. I'd like to think I would've pulled this one off, but the MGWCC is now just having me pulling my hair!

Great puzzle!!

LOL. I got this, but really wanted to submit SLAP, which we all know is texting shorthand for the title. Also a 4 letter word.
Great meta, Chris!

Well. "We" all know that NOW :confounded: Thanks @MaineMarge for my TIL :)

Yep, a great puzzle, but one that I DNF. All on me, not the constructor.

Ha, I was trying to figure out how PRAISE or ASPIRE helped me to figure out the answer.

Also, I’ve never had anyone text me SLAP. If they did I’d probably ask what I did wrong.

I flunked Geography (submitted Siam) but the teacher gave me credit anyway 😀

Don't know much geography
Don't know much trigonometry
Don't know much about solving metas
Don't know how but sometimes I get 'em
But I know that I still love puzzles
And if I could solve them with all these muggles
What a wonderful world this would be

Just got to this today. After a couple of misfires due to old eyes and small print as well as travel brain fog, I got where I needed to be.

I learned a few things along the way as well.
